How to Manage Cookies
Managing your website's cookies is essential for providing accurate information to visitors about data collection practices. CookieForte's cookie scanner automatically detects cookies on your website and provides detailed information about each one, which you can review and customize as needed.
Cookie Management Steps
1. Access Your Banner
Navigate to "Websites and banners" in the main menu and select the banner you want to manage.
2. Open Cookie Settings
Click on the "Cookies" section to view all cookies detected by the scanner.
3. Review Detected Cookies
You'll see a comprehensive list of all cookies collected by the automatic scanner from your website.
4. Check Pre-filled Information
We actively manage our cookie database to keep it up to date. If a cookie was found in our database, we've already pre-filled the following information:
- Provider: The service or company that sets the cookie
- Cookie data: Technical details about the cookie
- Description: What the cookie does, automatically translated into the languages you selected for your banner
If a cookie is not found in our database, you will need to add the category and description manually.
5. Customize Cookie Information
You can modify the cookie details to better suit your needs:
- Edit descriptions: Update the cookie description text to be more specific or user-friendly
- Change categories: Assign cookies to appropriate categories (necessary, analytics, marketing, etc.)
- Save changes: Don't forget to press the "Save" button on the right side of each cookie after making modifications
6. Reset or Remove Cookies
If you need to make corrections:
- Delete cookies: Click the "Delete" button on the right side of any cookie if you believe the information is incorrect or want to reset it to the original description
- Automatic re-detection: If a cookie is deleted, the scanner will automatically re-add it during future scans if it's still present on your website
By actively managing your cookies, you provide transparency to your website visitors and maintain better control over your site's data collection practices.
